Why Austin
With Tesla's Gigafactory based just outside the city, Austin has an unusually active and knowledgeable host community. Vehicles here tend to be newer, and hosts are often well-versed in answering first-timer questions.
Pickup and delivery
AUS airport delivery is common. Downtown and South Congress hosts are a short rideshare from most hotels; East Austin tends to offer slightly lower rates for self-pickup.
Best time to book
SXSW and ACL Festival weekends see the sharpest price and availability swings in the city. Outside of those windows, booking a week or two ahead is usually enough.
